Kaliachak College Visit to National Institute of Technology Sikkim

In a pioneering initiative, Kaliachak College, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Nazibar Rahman, has reached the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT), Sikkim,  marking the institution’s first-ever academic trip outside West Bengal. This endeavor aims to enrich students’ learning experiences beyond traditional classroom education by exposing them to esteemed higher education institutions.

Situated in Bar Fang Road Block, South Sikkim, near the scenic tourist hub of Ravangla, NIT Sikkim captivated the visiting students with its cutting-edge infrastructure and technical prowess. The delegation, comprising 15 students and Mr Durjoy Mondal, Head of the Department, of Education of Kaliachak College, guided the students in immersive observations and hands-on sessions across various departments.

Professor Dr. Md Nurujjaman, Head of the Physics Department, NIT, Sikim, facilitated campus and laboratory tours with permission from the institute’s Director, following a request by the principal, Dr. N. Rahman. Students explored advanced laboratories, with Professor Anil Lal, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and staff member Manoj Babu enthusiastically demonstrating equipment and emphasizing the role of scientific skills in national progress. The HoD, Chemistry, Professor Achintes Biswas and the research scholars  demonstrated different functions of the instruments, Physics departments’ researchers further ignited curiosity by showcasing ongoing projects, while the atmospheric science research center left a lasting impression.

Principal Dr. Nazibur Rahman highlighted the importance of such exposure visit in shaping students’ real-world perspectives and fostering excellence. He extended heartfelt gratitude to NIT Sikkim’s Director, faculty, and staff for their cooperation. He especially thanked Professor Md. Nurujjaman, HoD, Physics for his continuous and unrelenting effort to open the sphere of such a renowned Technology Institute to the students of Kaliachak College. The professors of the National Institute of Technology, Sikkim have congratulated  Dr Nazibar Rahaman, Principal  of Kaliachak College for being accredited with the prestigious “A” Grade by the National Assessment  And Accreditation Council (NAAC) among twenty five colleges in the three districts of Malda, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur. The professors blessed them and the students gained practical insights in labs across Physics, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering. Exposure to , particularly in atmospheric sciences, motivated participants.  Principal Dr. Rahman and NIT Sikkim faculty lauded for fostering cross-institutional ties.

This milestone trip not only broadened academic horizons but also underscored Kaliachak College’s commitment to innovative, experiential learning—a step toward inspiring future technocrats and researchers
